Community Engagement by increasing the network of journalists, developers, designers, and data activists in the region through meetings, hackathons and workshops with the presence of local, regional and international guests.
OpenData Latinoamérica expect to collect this data through open platforms and make them accessible for journalists and developers. The project will count with a datatracker responsible for collecting and process the datasets, normalized and released in open standards.
Accelerate prototypes developed through productive meetups or provided by independent work related with media. We will fund prototypes to be finished, create assistance services and datajournalism labs, to accelerate the creation of datajournalism teams.
Develop a news accelerator for media outlet for the region. On the basis of the experience of start-up accelerators we expect to accelerate new journalistic media outlets for Iberoamerica in one year with the support of Media Development Investment Fund and new partners.
We will create a team of two people to coordinate a scraping system for media in the region. A Scraper Wiki will be managed from the community in Spanish. The goal is to help the media in the use of available data. This will include a DataHelp service in Spanish.
